Why Coconut Oil is the best preventive measure against heart diseases?

Nowadays, a lot of people are facing with various heart related diseases due to poor diet and lack of exercise. Treatment of these diseases is too expensive and most drugs like statins (cholesterol lowering drugs) does not come without side effects. So, like the proverb that goes, “prevention is better that cure”, why not prevent ourselves from having these diseases with the use of coconut oil. Coconut oil has various benefits when it comes to the heart.
There are generally two main types of coconut oil, namely virgin and refined. Virgin coconut oil is best for the heart as it is extracted from coconut milk via wet extraction process whereas refined coconut oil is extracted from dried coconut meat via chemical refining, bleaching, and deodorizing. Coconut oil can be beneficial for heart in the following ways:
• Decrease Oxidative Stress
“Flavonoids” and “Polyphenols” are the antioxidants found in virgin coconut oil that have significant positive affect on heart. Heart attack, which is one of the major heart-related diseases is developed due to formation of plaques in arteries which occurs as the result of oxidative stress. Also, stiffness of blood vessel can cause high blood pressure leading to heart failure. Antioxidants present in virgin coconut oil helps in reduction of oxidative stress in the body. Polyphenols has major impact on reduction of blood pressure in high blood pressure patients and reduce the growth of atherosclerotic plaques in the arteries too.
• Cholesterol Control
Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are commonly found in virgin coconut oil. Both of these fats help in cholesterol control. Lipoprotein lipase is another helpful enzyme present in virgin coconut oils that helps to dissolve the tissue fat. In addition to this, coconut oil users have increased levels of HDL, and decreased LDL (bad cholesterol)/HDL (good cholesterol) ratio.
• Reduction of Blood Clot
Platelets are the blood clotting components found in blood that circulate freely in the body. In response to an external injury, these blood cells become sticky and adhere to each other forming a dead tissue bandage, called blood clot, and help in healing. This healing process is aided by the presence of calcium, scar tissues, cholesterol and tri-glyceric acid. The tissue that is formed in this process can also cause arterial plaque. If this occurs in then coronary artery then it can cause coronary heart diseases. This is the main cause of heart-related deaths in the U.S. these days. Virgin coconut oil helps in the reduction of such blood clots and maintains the healthy heart.
Moreover, coconut oil helps to increase HDL, improves the cholesterol ratio, and controls the internal blood clotting in the body which reduces the risks of getting a heart disease. Heart diseases like stroke, and atherosclerosis are the most common diseases at present in many developed countries. So, why not take care of our hearth once in while by using the healthy coconut oil. Let’s include some coconut oil in our daily diet and discourage ourselves from using other unhealthy oils.
